Beschreibung der Arbeitsweise
The conditions and ambivalences of artistic production lie at the centre of Sarah Bechter‘spractice. Blurring the lines between the private and the public, work and leisure, surface and
line, Bechter‘s canvases exist as individual subjects, rather than surfaces of projection, and
seem entangled in a vivid debate among themselves. The artist uses a wide range of
techniques and references to interrogate the validity of the images she creates, and of painting
itself. Furthermore, Bechter invites the viewer to a game of hide-and-seek by often only
hinting at protagonists and objects, infusing her works with a mysterious, dreamy
atmosphere.
